Multimorphic

Multimorphic

Multimorphic is known for its unique take on Pinball machine production with its P3 gaming platform. Multimorphic began life in 2009 as a hobbyist control system that would allow pinball fans the ability to run custom code on existing machines. The popularity of this control board called the P-ROC, would eventually enable founder Gerry Stellenberg the ability to start producing full games starting in 2012, with its first production run completed in 2017.‍ While a lot of pinball manufacturers talk a big game about bringing innovation to pinball, Multimorphic is one of the few that can walk the talk. The P3 is more of a platform for pinball than a single machine. The P3 features a modular design, which allows owners the ability to play multiple games on a single machine. Some games come with swappable playfield modules, while others are more software-focused and work with any playfield module.

About Multimorphic

About Multimorphic

Multimorphic, Inc. is an American pinball machine manufacturer founded in 2012 by engineer Gerry Stellenberg in Round Rock, Texas, following his creation of the Pinball Remote Operations Controller (P-ROC) in 2009. The P-ROC, a customizable control board that allowed enthusiasts to reprogram traditional pinball machines, opened the door for innovation and laid the groundwork for the company’s flagship product: the revolutionary P³ (P-3) pinball platform. Through an ambitious development process spanning several years, Multimorphic integrated modern computing technology with traditional pinball mechanics, creating a modular cabinet capable of hosting multiple games simply by swapping out the upper playfield modules. The lower portion of the playfield features a large, high-definition screen that tracks the ball in real time, merging physical gameplay with dynamic digital elements.

The company began shipping the P³ to customers around 2017, with Lexy Lightspeed: Escape From Earth (co-designed by Dennis Nordman) as its debut game. Unlike conventional pinball machines, the P³ effectively acts as a console, where users can download and install new games, resulting in a rapidly expanding library that includes such titles as Heist (2020) and Weird Al’s Museum of Natural Hilarity (2022). The latter, which was the company’s first licensed title, earned Multimorphic significant acclaim and contributed to the expansion of its manufacturing operations. Multimorphic’s approach remains unique in the pinball industry: it embraces a blend of physical and digital innovation, offering a flexible platform for both in-house and third-party developers. As of 2023, the company remains active, producing new game kits and supporting a growing community of players and creators who see the P³ as a bold evolution in the world of pinball.
