Stern has just announced their latest collaboration between Brian Eddy & Dwight Sullivan, the same design & code team that was responsible for The Mandalorian and Venom. The latter table was the first Stern table to be designed intently with Insider Connected in mind and featured saved progression and unlockable characters incentivizing players to approach the machine more like a video game but was still made accessible enough for casual players to dive into. This mindset has continued with the announcement of Dungeons & Dragons: The Tyrant’s Eye, featuring a brand-new layout by the legendary Brian Eddy.

High fantasy themes are currently at high demand in the pinball world and Stern experimented with the genre earlier in 2018’s Black Knight: Sword of Rage; and the Dungeons & Dragons IP is no stranger to pinball either, having inspired a 1987 Bally / Midway table with a great soundtrack and unusual layout.

Dungeons & Dragons: The Tyrant’s Eye Pinball Overview

Who’s Who

Dungeons & Dragons Pricing and Availability

Dungeons & Dragons: The Tyrant’s Eye will be available in Stern’s standard Pro, Premium, and Limited Edition trim levels.

Notable Game Features

Some of these can only be found on Prem / LE models of the machine. They will be marked accordingly.

Rath the Relentless

Rath is the big red dragon and is the most advanced dragon mech that has ever been put into a pinball machine. Not only can it be hit directly with the ball thanks to its vertical movement, but a target bank is below it representing Rath’s treasure horde. On the Prem / LE model, Rath also spits out balls at the start of multiball and moves from left to right.

Gelatinous Cube

The gelatinous cube features a magnet that can hold and release balls that are sent there via the left orbit.

Dungeon Crawl Shot

Located in front of the center spinner is a scoop that raises when dungeon crawl is available. The dungeon crawl mode is a combination of video mode and pinball where every shot navigates the dungeon, with treasures awaiting successfully navigating the dungeon. There are five dungeon crawl levels that change out on a weekly basis.

Shield Ball Saver

A metal bar is located between the flippers that can save balls that are about to drain straight down the middle. It is activated by pressing the center action button.

PinSave

Using Insider Connected the game will keep track of where you were in the last game, even if you’re currently in the middle of a dungeon. The player can also opt out of this if they want to start from scratch. This essentially serves as an expanded version of the saved progress from Venom that now accounts for more circumstances.
