About Roy Parker

Roy “Leroy” Parker (1899–1965) was a pioneering American pinball artist renowned for his prolific output and vibrant designs. He illustrated around 290 different pinball machines, primarily for the Gottlieb company, from the late 1930s until the mid-1960s. At the insistence of Gottlieb’s founder, Parker became the exclusive artist for the company’s games during this era, giving Gottlieb machines a cohesive and iconic look. His colorful backglass and playfield art — often featuring lively characters and humorous scenes — helped elevate pinball from a mechanical novelty to an eye-catching attraction. Parker’s distinctive style and attention to detail made him one of the most influential artists in pinball history, setting a standard for game artwork that endures to this day.
