Prey

The "Prey" movie, released in 2022, has revitalized the Predator franchise by introducing a fresh, historical perspective. This fifth installment of the series serves as a prequel to the first four films, transporting us back to the Northern Great Plains in 1719. The film, directed by Dan Trachtenberg and written by Patrick Aison, centers on a young Comanche woman, Naru, who aims to prove herself as a proficient hunter. As she works to safeguard her people from a ferocious, humanoid alien hunting humans for sport, she also battles French fur traders threatening their survival by decimating the buffalo herds they depend on​.

The development of "Prey" began during the production of "The Predator" (2018) when producer John Davis was presented with a concept by Trachtenberg and Aison that they had been developing since 2016. Unique to the franchise, this film incorporates a full Comanche language dub, contributing to its authenticity and diversity. Filming took place around Calgary during the summer of 2021, and the final cut included both English and Comanche sequences, with the cast reprising their roles for the Comanche dubbing​.

"Prey" debuted at the San Diego Comic-Con in July 2022 and was subsequently released as a Hulu original film in the United States and on Disney+ Star internationally.
